About the Founder

Mark is a second-generation petroleum engineer. He worked in the oil and gas exploration and production industry for over twenty years, first as an engineer and then in management. Mark was the Chief Financial Officer and Vice-President of Finance for a division of Baker Hughes and Chief Executive Officer and President for Evan Energy. He evaluated oil and gas assets and investment opportunities in over forty countries and was involved in over $2 billion of transactions. He had broad business experience he wanted to share through teaching, and he took four years to work on his PhD in Business with concentration in Finance and minors in Statistics and Economics.

Mark was a professor at King University 2007 - 2023 and served as the Dean, School of Business, Economics and Technology 2018 - 2023. Mark devotes time to mentoring former students and has helped several start a business. Those efforts led to starting Alta Capital Management™.
